Very nice. Now send this to every NHL player so they see the Isles are getting a new building.

Nice write up Ben! Will be very interesting to see if Dobson makes the team. Another year of Junior probably would not help much. It would be better for Dobson to start on the 3rd pair. I'm not sure how it works out though?

If he makes the team this season, do they need to protect him in the expansion draft?

Even if we set aside Lou's instincts to err on the side of over-seasoning a prospect, and even if we set aside recent history when it comes to D prospects (Toews was older and obviously ready out of camp last year but was still sent down to start the season in favor of vets)...the Isles' D was the team's source of strength last season. It's hard to point to anyone in the top six and say he shouldn't be in there, and harder for me to see one of them sitting in favor of an untested rookie.

I think if Dobson doesn't make the team he should go to Europe. It would be way better than another year of JR's

Totally agree about Lou's history of not typically getting real young guys in there unless there's some injuries, but I also know that another year in the Q is a waste for Dobson. As someone else pointed out, a year in Europe would probably be more beneficial for him than going back to Rouyn-Noranda.

That said, his presence gives the Islanders some wiggle room to trade someone like Leddy for help up front or to dump Hickey to save a little money.

He has been the Top Dman at 2 Memorial Cups...he will be on NHL Roster this Year.
Boychuk needs to be treated like a goalie: No Back To back Games-So that's almost 20 games right there. If Everyone is healthy, they can send him to the WJC for 3 Weeks. he is exempt from Seattle Draft. The only issue is you may be burning up a year for part time service, though it could help limit performance Bonus and potential value of his 2nd Contract.

Agreed, and he’s not the first prospect to be up against that rule. It’d be nice…and best for his development…if he could just play in the AHL and then get called up for some NHL games if he’s playing well enough, but…

Also agree on the Leddy/Hickey possibilities, but I think that picture would be clearer if they could make a move either now or before camp ends. It might get messy back there rotating 8 d-men (8 actual d-men…not 7 and a locker room temperature taker who can sit for months at a time) if it goes too far into the season without a trade.

Once mdw crawls out from under his gf's cavernous gunt and sees your post, we're sure to hear something about your young wife.
